Racing To Success

We only have two teams that spends hours running and hours training. Meter by meter, the runners build their endurance for the upcoming track season. The team’s hours of dedication will hopefully take them to better things.

“Previously, the boys along with the girls, both came in third place at the eleven-6a district meet, track coach, Pierce said.”

Track coach, Casey Pierce, believes his runners have a high success rate and will continue to build that rate for years to come.

“I even had one person go run at a state meet, while being coach.”

In addition to meeting last year’s goals, his goals for this season is to try and advance a runner to Austin,Texas to run and he also wants to take a large number of his runners to the area and the regional meet.

“On the boys side of things, there will be some opportunities there.”

With a lot of opportunities for success, there are also some things that could leave the team with some troubles in the long run.

“We do not have anyone per se new standouts or anything, but the returning lettermen are going to be leaned on extremely hard this year to pick up where the older kids that graduated and left off. We lost some really good athletes, Haynes King, early enrollment, Sawyer Gorem-Welch, early enrollment, he was a good shot in discus, those are the guys that really could be competing this spring, but have gone on and enrolled in college. So we have to pick up the slack on the boys side.”
